And ˹remember˺ when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” so they all did—but not Iblîs,1 who protested, “Should I prostrate to the one You have created from mud?”

ينبه تبارك وتعالى عباده على شدة عداوة الشيطان وحرصه على إضلالهم وأنه لما خلق الله آدم استكبر عن السجود له و { قَالَ } متكبرا: { أَأَسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِينًا } أي: من طين وبزعمه أنه خير منه لأنه خلق من نار. وقد تقدم فساد هذا القياس الباطل من عدة أوجه.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
