Then I seized those who persisted in disbelief. How severe was My response!

( ثم أخذت الذين كفروا ) أي : ومع هذا كله كذب أولئك رسلهم فيما جاءوهم به ، فأخذتهم ، أي : بالعقاب والنكال ، ( فكيف كان نكير ) أي : فكيف رأيت إنكاري عليهم عظيما شديدا بليغا ؟
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
