وقوله : ( إنهم ألفوا آباءهم ضالين ) أي : إنما جازيناهم بذلك لأنهم وجدوا آباءهم على الضلالة فاتبعوهم فيها بمجرد ذلك ، من غير دليل ولا برهان ; ولهذا قال :
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
