So the angels called out to him while he stood praying in the sanctuary, “Allah gives you good news of ˹the birth of˺ John who will confirm the Word of Allah and will be a great leader, chaste, and a prophet among the righteous.”

Hapo Malaika walimuita, naye yuko katika hali ya kusimama mbele ya Mwenyezi Mungu katika mahali pake pa Swala, huku anamuomba Yeye, wakamuambia. «Mwenyezi Mungu Anakupa habari yenye kukufurahisha, nayo ni kwamba utaruzukiwa mtoto ambaye jina lake ni Yaḥyā, ambaye atalisadikisha neno la Mwenyezi Mungu, naye ni 'Īsā mwana wa Maryam, amani imshukie. Huyo Yaḥyā atakuwa ni bwana wa kaumu yake, atakuwa na cheo na daraja kubwa, atakuwa ni mwenye kujihifadhi: hatendi madhambi wala hafuati matamanio ya kudhuru na atakuwa ni Nabii miongoni mwa watu wema ambao walifikia kilele cha wema.»
