They say, “Our hearts are veiled against what you are calling us to, there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do ˹whatever you want˺ and so shall we!”

﴿وَقَالُوا۟﴾ للنبي ﴿قُلُوبُنَا فِیۤ أَكِنَّةࣲ﴾ أغطية ﴿مِّمَّا تَدۡعُونَاۤ إِلَیۡهِ وَفِیۤ ءَاذَانِنَا وَقۡرࣱ﴾ ثقل ﴿وَمِنۢ بَیۡنِنَا وَبَیۡنِكَ حِجَابࣱ﴾ خلاف في الدين ﴿فَٱعۡمَلۡ﴾ على دينك ﴿إِنَّنَا عَـٰمِلُونَ ٥﴾ على ديننا
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
