فأجابه قومه قائلين : ( أجئتنا لتأفكنا ) أي : لتصدنا ( عن آلهتنا فأتنا بما تعدنا إن كنت من الصادقين ) استعجلوا عذاب الله وعقوبته ، استبعادا منهم وقوعه ، كقوله :( يستعجل بها الذين لا يؤمنون بها )[ الشورى : 18 ] .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
