They chose a fleeting gain over Allah’s revelations, hindering ˹others˺ from His Way. Evil indeed is what they have done!

قوله تعالى اشتروا بآيات الله ثمنا قليلا فصدوا عن سبيله إنهم ساء ما كانوا يعملون [ ص: 19 ] يعني المشركين في نقضهم العهود بأكلة أطعمهم إياها أبو سفيان ، قاله مجاهد . وقيل : إنهم استبدلوا بالقرآن متاع الدنيا .فصدوا عن سبيله أي أعرضوا ، من الصدود أو منعوا عن سبيل الله ، من الصد .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
