إن كاد ليضلنا أي قالوا : قد كاد أن يصرفنا . عن آلهتنا لولا أن صبرنا عليها أي حبسنا أنفسنا على عبادتها . وسوف يعلمون حين يرون العذاب من أضل سبيلا يريد : من أضل دينا أهم أم محمد ، وقد رأوه في يوم بدر .
