Il dit encore : "Vois-Tu celui que Tu as honoré au-dessus de moi ? Si Tu me donnais du répit jusqu’au Jour de la Résurrection; j’éprouverai, certes sa descendance, excepté un petit nombre [parmi eux]."

فلما تبين لإبليس تفضيل الله لآدم { قَالَ } مخاطبا لله: { أَرَأَيْتَكَ هَذَا الَّذِي كَرَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ } أي: لأستأصلنهم بالإضلال ولأغوينهم { إِلَّا قَلِيلًا } عرف الخبيث أنه لا بد أن يكون منهم من يعاديه ويعصيه.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
