qu’ [Allah] déchaîna contre eux pendant sept nuits et huit jours consécutifs; tu voyais alors les gens renversés par terre comme des souches de palmiers évidées.

{ سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا } أي: نحسا وشرا فظيعا عليهم فدمرتهم وأهلكتهم، { فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَى } أي: هلكى موتى { كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ } أي: كأنهم جذوع النخل التي قد قطعت رءوسها الخاوية الساقط بعضها على بعض.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
