Nous n’avons envoyé aucun prophète dans une cité, sans que Nous n’ayons accablé ses habitants ensuite par le malheur et l’adversité afin qu’ils implorent (le pardon). 1

يقول تعالى:{ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ ْ} يدعوهم إلى عبادة اللّه، وينهاهم عن ما هم فيه من الشر، فلم ينقادوا له: إلا ابتلاهم الله { بِالْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ ْ} أي: بالفقر والمرض وأنواع البلايا { لَعَلَّهُمْ ْ} إذا أصابتهم، أخضعت نفوسهم فتضرعوا إلى الله واستكانوا للحق.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
