Il n’y a de voie (de reproche à), vraiment, que contre ceux qui demandent d’être dispensés, alors qu’ils sont riches. Il leur plaît de demeurer avec celles qui sont restées à l’arrière. Et Allah a scellé leurs cœurs et ils ne savent pas.

إِنَّمَا السَّبِيلُ} يتوجه واللوم يتناول الذين يستأذنوك وهم أغنياء قادرون على الخروج لا عذر لهم، فهؤلاء {رَضُوا} لأنفسهم ومن دينهم {بِأَنْ يَكُونُوا مَعَ الْخَوَالِفِ} كالنساء والأطفال ونحوهم. {و} إنما رضوا بهذه الحال لأن اللّه طبع على قلوبهم أي: ختم عليها، فلا يدخلها خير، ولا يحسون بمصالحهم الدينية والدنيوية، {فَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ} عقوبة لهم، على ما اقترفوا.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
