Sesungguhnya mereka sebelum itu (dahulu) hidup bermewah-mewah,

إنهم كانوا قبل ذلك مترفين أي إنما استحقوا هذه العقوبة لأنهم كانوا في الدنيا متنعمين بالحرام . والمترف : المنعم ، عن ابن عباس وغيره . وقال السدي : مترفين أي مشركين .
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
