Disse [Giacobbe]: «Non lo manderò con voi finché non giurerete su Allah che me lo riporterete, a meno che non siate del tutto sopraffatti». Poi, dopo che ebbero giurato, disse loro: «Allah è il garante di quello che abbiamo detto».

فـ { قَالَ } لهم يعقوب: { لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّى تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِنْ اللَّهِ } أي: عهدا ثقيلا، وتحلفون بالله { لَتَأْتُنَّنِي بِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ } أي: إلا أن يأتيكم أمر لا قبل لكم به، ولا تقدرون دفعه، { فَلَمَّا آتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ } على ما قال وأراد { قَالَ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ } أي: تكفينا شهادته علينا وحفظه وكفالته.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
