Risposero: «Il riscatto? Colui nei cui bagagli troverete la coppa, sarà egli stesso il suo riscatto 1 . È così che sanzioniamo gli ingiusti».

{ قَالُوا جَزَاؤُهُ مَنْ وُجِدَ فِي رَحْلِهِ فَهُوَ } أي: الموجود في رحله { جَزَاؤُهُ } بأن يتملكه صاحب السرقة، وكان هذا في دينهم أن السارق إذا ثبتت عليه السرقة كان ملكا لصاحب المال المسروق، ولهذا قالوا:{ كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ }
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
