E se non fosse per la grazia di Allah nei vostri confronti e la Sua misericordia in questa vita e nell’altra, vi avrebbe colpito un castigo immenso per quello che avete propalato,

{ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ } بحيث شملكم إحسانه فيهما، في أمر دينكم ودنياكم، { لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَفَضْتُمْ } أي: خضتم { فِيهِ } من شأن الإفك { عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ } لاستحقاقكم ذلك بما قلتم، ولكن من فضل الله عليكم ورحمته، أن شرع لكم التوبة، وجعل العقوبة مطهرة للذنوب.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
