Diceva [l’ammonitore]: «Anche se vi portassi una Guida migliore di quella che seguivano i vostri avi?». Rispondevano: «Invero non crediamo in quello con cui siete stati inviati» 1 .

ولهذا كل رسول يقول لمن عارضه بهذه الشبهة الباطلة:{ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِأَهْدَى مِمَّا وَجَدْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَكُمْ } أي: فهل تتبعوني لأجل الهدى؟ { قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهِ كَافِرُونَ } فعلم بهذا، أنهم ما أرادوا اتباع الحق والهدى، وإنما قصدهم اتباع الباطل والهوى.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
