Così, in ogni città, facemmo capi i suoi peccatori più grandi, affinché ordiscano in essa le loro trame 1 . Ma tramano solo contro loro stessi e non ne sono coscienti!

{ وَكَذَلِكَ جَعَلْنَا فِي كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ أَكَابِرَ مُجْرِمِيهَا } أي: الرؤساء الذين قد كبر جرمهم، واشتد طغيانهم { لِيَمْكُرُوا فِيهَا } بالخديعة والدعوة إلى سبيل الشيطان، ومحاربة الرسل وأتباعهم، بالقول والفعل، وإنما مكرهم وكيدهم يعود على أنفسهم، لأنهم يمكرون، ويمكر الله والله خير الماكرين.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
