Als Hij jullie die (bezittingen) zou vragen en bij jullie zou aandringen, dan zouden jullie gierig worden en zou Hij jullie afgunst onthullen.

{ إِنْ يَسْأَلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَانَكُمْ } أي: ما في قلوبكم من الضغن، إذا طلب منكم ما تكرهون بذله.والدليل على أن الله لو طلب منكم أموالكم وأحفاكم بسؤالها، أنكم تمتنعون منها.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
