En zo hebben Wij in elke stad haar grootste misdadigers geplaatst opdat zij er (hun kwade plannen) beramen. En zij beramen niet dan tegen zichzelf, terwijl zij het niet beseffen.

ومثل هذا الذي حصل مِن زعماء الكفار في «مكة» من الصدِّ عن دين الله تعالى، جعلنا في كل قرية مجرمين يتزعمهم أكابرهم; ليمكروا فيها بالصد عن دين الله، وما يكيدون إلا أنفسهم، وما يُحِسُّون بذلك.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
