Hij (Allah) vroeg: "Wat belemmerde jou je neer te knielen, toen Ik het jou beval?" Hij zei: "Ik ben beter dan hem (Adam); U hebt mij uit vuur geschapen terwijl U hem uit aarde hebt geschapen."

قال تعالى منكرًا على إبليس تَرْكَ السجود: ما منعك ألا تسجد إذ أمرتك؟ فقال إبليس: أنا أفضل منه خلقًا; لأني مخلوق من نار، وهو مخلوق من طين. فرأى أن النار أشرف من الطين.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
