En als zij (met jou ten strijde) zouden willen trokken, dan zouden zij daartoe zeker voorbereidingen hebben getroffen. Maar Allah keurde hun vertrek af, zodat Hij hen ontmoedigde. En er werd gezegd: "Blijf thuis met de thuisblijvers."

ولو أراد المنافقون الخروج معك -أيها النبي- إلى الجهاد لتأهَّبوا له بالزاد والراحلة، ولكن الله كره خروجهم فثَقُلَ عليهم الخروج قضاء وقدرًا، وإن كان أمرهم به شرعا، وقيل لهم: تخلفوا مع القاعدين من المرضى والضعفاء والنساء والصبيان.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
