Zij zweren jullie bij Allah om jullie te behagen, terwijl Allah en zijn Boodschapper er meer recht op hebben dat zij hen behagen, als zij gelovigen zijn.

{يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَكُمْ لِيُرْضُوكُمْ} فيتبرأوا مما صدر منهم من الأذية وغيرها، فغايتهم أن ترضوا عليهم. {وَاللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُرْضُوهُ إِنْ كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ} لأن المؤمن لا يقدم شيئا على رضا ربه ورضا رسوله، فدل هذا على انتفاء إيمانهم حيث قدموا رضا غير اللّه ورسوله.
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
