And surely Our messenger-angels came to Abraham with good news ˹of a son˺. They greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” And he replied, “Peace ˹be upon you˺!” Then it was not long before he brought ˹them˺ a ˹fat,˺ roasted calf. (69) And when he saw that their hands did not reach for the food, he became suspicious and fearful of them. They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid! We are ˹angels˺ sent ˹only˺ against the people of Lot.” (70)

And inform them ˹O Prophet˺ about Abraham’s guests (51) who entered upon him and greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” He ˹later˺ said, “Surely we are afraid of you.” (52)

Has the story of Abraham’s honoured guests reached you ˹O Prophet˺? (24) ˹Remember˺ when they entered his presence and greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” He replied, “Peace ˹be upon you˺!” ˹Then he said to himself,˺ “These people must be strangers!” (25) Then he slipped off to his family and brought a fat ˹roasted˺ calf, (26) and placed it before them, asking, “Will you not eat?” (27)

And when he saw that their hands did not reach for the food, he became suspicious and fearful of them. They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid! We are ˹angels˺ sent ˹only˺ against the people of Lot.”

They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid! Surely we give you good news of a knowledgeable son.”

˹They did not eat,˺ so he grew fearful of them. They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid,” and gave him good news of a knowledgeable son.

And his wife was standing by, so she laughed, then We gave her good news of ˹the birth of˺ Isaac, and, after him, Jacob. (71) She wondered, “Oh, my! How can I have a child in this old age, and my husband here is an old man? This is truly an astonishing thing!” (72) They responded, “Are you astonished by Allah’s decree? May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you, O  people of this house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy, All-Glorious.” (73)

They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid! Surely we give you good news of a knowledgeable son.” (53) He wondered, “Do you give me good news despite my old age? What unlikely news!” (54) They responded, “We give you good news in all truth, so do not be one of those who despair.” (55) He exclaimed, “Who would despair of the mercy of their Lord except the misguided?” (56)

When Our messenger-angels came to Abraham with the good news ˹of the birth of Isaac˺, they said, “We are going to destroy the people of this city ˹of Sodom˺, for its people have persisted in wrongdoing.”

˹They did not eat,˺ so he grew fearful of them. They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid,” and gave him good news of a knowledgeable son. (28) Then his wife came forward with a cry, clasping her forehead ˹in astonishment˺, exclaiming, “˹A baby from˺ a barren, old woman!” (29) They replied, “Such has your Lord decreed. He is truly the All-Wise, All-Knowing.” (30)

Then after the fear had left Abraham, and the good news had reached him, he began to plead with Us for the people of Lot. (74) Truly, Abraham was forbearing, tender-hearted, and ever turning ˹to his Lord˺. (75) ˹The angels said,˺ “O Abraham! Plead no more! Your Lord’s decree has already come, and they will certainly be afflicted with a punishment that cannot be averted!” (76)

He ˹then˺ added, “What is your mission, O  messenger-angels?” (57) They replied, “We have actually been sent to a wicked people. (58) As for the family of Lot, we will certainly deliver them all, (59) except his wife. We have determined that she will be one of the doomed.” (60)

When Our messenger-angels came to Abraham with the good news ˹of the birth of Isaac˺, they said, “We are going to destroy the people of this city ˹of Sodom˺, for its people have persisted in wrongdoing.” (31) He said, “But Lot is there!” They responded, “We know best who is there. We will certainly save him and his family—except his wife, who is one of the doomed.” (32)

˹Later,˺ Abraham asked, “What is your mission, O  messenger-angels?” (31) They replied, “We have actually been sent to a wicked people, (32) to send upon them stones of ˹baked˺ clay, (33) marked by your Lord for the transgressors.” (34)
